Job Description
About The Role
The Plant Technician / Plant Operator (Shift Operator – Trainee Level 1) position is critical to ensuring ongoing business success. Reporting to the Production Superintendent, this role provides a clear development pathway, allowing the successful candidate to progress to Shift Operator – Trainee Level 2 within 6 months and to a full Operator role within 18 months. Full on-the-job training and development is provided.
This role is located at our Chlor-Alkali plant based in Lytton, Brisbane QLD and is a shift position, operating a 12-hour shift, working 4-days on (with two-day shifts, followed by two-night shifts) with 4-days off.
Key Responsibilities
Operate the Brine Plant, Hypo loading, caustic loading, and utilities (excluding boilers) areas in an efficient and safe manner;
Ensure the plant runs as per standard operating instructions, and within the parameters for safe & efficient operation;
Perform all shift-based laboratory analytical tests;
Treat wastewater.
Become competent in all aspects of plant operation
The Successful Candidate Will Have
Experience as an operator in the chemical processing industry (desirable but not essential)
A strong work ethic, self-motivation, and the ability to work autonomously
Good written and verbal communication skills
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
Sound computer skills to support operational processes
A genuine interest in being part of a small, flexible team
